Nebraska to Colorado – 546 Miles

Day two of our journey began with a hearty homecooked breakfast by Kerry. We loaded up our #motorcycles and said farewell to our #roadfamily. With #GrandJunction as our destination, we hit the interstate, ready to rack up some miles. Our first stop: the last #FlyingJ in #Nebraska for a refuel.

However, just as we were getting back on track, fate threw us a curveball. I received a call that Jason’s wallet had been found. Wait, found? He hadn’t even noticed it was gone yet. Turns out, his wallet had taken flight at the Flying J, cash swirling in the wind. A trucker and a helpful motorist came to aid and picked up the cash and wallet. The couple, on their way to church, intervened, asking the trucker to return the money. Sadly, he shrugged off their pleas with a callused "Finders keepers" and drove away with a pocket full of cash.

We encounter decisions every day and must pick – do you want to be the trucker or the old couple?

We’ve traveled through Nebraska a ton and I can unequivocally say they are some of the best folks you’ll meet. Hands down. Missing church to return a stranger’s wallet. Are you kidding me? We were so thankful!

The couple were able to locate us through social media thanks to the ID inside the wallet. We received word that the wallet awaited us back at the gas station. A quick detour, and Jason was reunited with his belongings. Whew!

The journey from I80 to I76 to I70 felt long, especially until the #Rockies finally came into view. Amidst the miles, my Nalgene took a tumble off Jason’s bike, a small casualty in an otherwise eventful day.

Whenever Grand Junction calls, our go-to refuge is the #GrandVistaHotel. Clean, affordable rooms plus a lounge mean once we’re off the road, we’re set for food and drink.
